Hi, my name is Dr. David Forbush. I have worked in education for 31 years. I have worked as an assessment specialist, school psychologist, Title-I coordinator, special education director, federal projects director, university professor, academic interventions clinic director, director of a university-based service helping schools with learning and behavioral needs. I have also led a state-wide professional development system. I have many interests, including evidence-supported practices and the implementation of these practices to favorable effect on student learning and behavior. One of my most prized recognitions was being honored as my state’s Special Education Director of the Year.
For me Skinny Learning animates my deep regard for teachers and their success in the classroom. Skinny Learning is designed to make the lives of teachers easier by reducing the inputs into teaching while maximizing student learning outputs, and teacher satisfaction and joy—while having a negligible fiscal impact on teachers. I hope our services increase your joy, by increasing your success, and that they do so in “skinny,” simple ways.
Hello, my name is Mr. John Jeon. I have been working in the field of instructional design/technology and learning science for 25 years. I have also been involved in policy change and educational program initiatives. My main interests lie in designing effective instructions, improving teachers' performance, evidence-based training, and achieving result-driven student performance.
Skinny Learning offers specialized services to empower teachers in their classrooms. Skinny Learning provides innovative strategies and tools that our teachers can implement quickly and effectively. Hello! My name is Christine Manning. I have been blessed to serve in a variety of positions in the education field for over 20 years. I have worked as an elementary school teacher, special education teacher, district assessment director, principal, and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I have provided consultation services to Utah State University Center For Schools of the Future and Charter School Authorization, TAESE (Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education), Wyoming Department of Education (WDE), and the Wyoming Department of Health, Behavioral Health Division, as well individual schools across multiple states.
I firmly believe we can implement evidence-based practices that assist teachers to create more positive environments that foster feelings of safety, independence, happiness and positive behaviors in our children. Skinny Learning does just that. It provides “skinny” or simple learning strategies that support teachers in HOW to implement effective and efficient practices that promote high levels of learning for our children. These practices will reduce the need for higher levels of intervention, reduce teacher stress and burnout, and improve the overall feeling of success and joy in the classroom.
Hi! My name is Dr. Katie Harris. I am so fortunate to have worked with children and adults with disabilities in a variety of environments for over 25 years. Most of my experience is with children with autism and severe disabilities; I have served as a behavior specialist, special educator, coach, special education coordinator, and currently work as an assistant teaching professor in the Applied Behavior Analysis graduate program at Pennsylvania State University. In addition, I provide consultative services for the early intervention sites in the local school district.
I am incredibly passionate about providing support to teachers and caregivers. For me, Skinny Learning provides that support through collaboration, knowledge, and skill-building. I am proud to be a part of a team of people whose main focus is providing tools to teachers and parents so they may maximize student learning through evidence-based strategies. Shaping learners should bring joy, confidence, and a sense of self-worth in lieu of frustration and fatigue. Skinny Learning is about efficient and effective ways to manage challenging behaviors and help educators and parents be the best they can be.
